I had bought this LED to upgrade my 3 D cell Maglite Flashlight, and at first I was pretty happy(though there is a brighter LED upgrade for Maglite flashlights that are actually a little brighter). But after about a month the bulb broke. I was under the impression that the LED upgrade was going to last forever and was indestructible.
I had the 3 D cell flashlight near the front door, where I’ve had it sitting for the past seven or eight years, and shortly after I upgraded to the LED it rolled off the hutch which is about three feet to the ground. I picked it up to make sure it was still working, but it was dead. That flashlight with the original bulb has fallen off from the same place a few times in the past, and I’ve never had to replace the bulb. I was also a little disappointed in the blueish tent of the LED. The incandescent bulb might not be quite as bright, but the colors are more accurate, at least with my 3 D cell flashlights. I have two of each of the Maglite flashlights and in my opinion the 3 C cell 2 D cell and 2 C cell LED upgrades are a more impressive upgrade, and though it might have been something that slipped by quality control, honestly the three D Cell flashlights that I have, just haven’t impressed me that much.
By the way I did replace the LED in that 3 D cell Mag, with another brand LED upgrade and so far I’m pretty happy with it. But as I said, the MagLite LED upgrade seems to have a better impact in the 2 D Cell, and particularly the 2 and 3 C Cell MagLites. The 2 C Cell upgrade is great, and the 3 C cell is very close to the 3 D Cell upgrade at half the weight. It’s too bad they didn’t make a 2 or a 3 C Cell LED flashlight, maybe they will, but I swear the C cell MagLite upgrades are the way to go in my opinion.

I purchased a 4-cell module but I have a 3-cell flashlight. The beam is still bright and focused. I wonder how well the correct module would work.

Maglite makes good products, but Amazon is simply terrible. They simply do not deliver on what they agree to.
