0bama could work 365 days a year; President Bush only weekends for a year, and President Bush would get more accomplished with our country’s best interests at heart. Happy now?
Bush tried as hard as he could to be a second Reagan. In fact he out-Reaganed Reagan in several things. Reagan set the previous record for vacation days.
The thing is, Bush wasn’t really ‘The President’. Just like Reagan, he left his staff alone to run the shop while he napped or watched TV. Also like Reagan, Bush wasn’t able to talk about his own opinions or positions without first being thoroughly briefed, because he didn’t really have any political thinking of his own. He was really no more than a spokesmodel for a ‘cabal’ of corporate and party leaders who were really running the administration.
So it didn’t really matter if he was on vacation or not.
Hey, whatever. Bush is a better president than Obama can ever dream of being.

I thought GWB was a war criminal and an incompetent chief executive of the federal government, i.e., I am hardly a “Bush fan”. However, to claim that he was strictly out of touch and on vacation, in this technologically well connected world of ours, is extremely disingenuous

No. More time actually doing his job would have meant… more time doing his job. And he did a horrible job.
Think about this: John F. Kennedy was President for 1,036 days, George W. Bush was on vacation from the Presidency for 1,020 days. Of course, JFK actually found weapons of mass destruction, and instead of sending his Secretary of State to the United Nations to lie for him and drum up support against a false enemy, sent his Ambassador there with the photos to prove it and confront the actual enemy, and got them removed.
But then, as a real Texan, Lloyd Bentsen, would say, “George W. Bush, you’re no Jack Kennedy.” (Which reminds me: We may owe Dan Quayle an apology, because he was never as stupid as Dubya. Or Palin. Or as whacked-out as either.)
